THE FOUR OF US Takes the Stage!
4/7/2008

Lowell, MA—What happens when your wildest dreams come true…for your best friend? And more importantly, who should pay for lunch?  Merrimack Repertory Theatre concludes its 29th season with the regional premiere of The Four of Us by one of America’s freshest new playwrights, Itamar Moses, author of the acclaimed Bach at Liepzig.  Merrimack Repertory Theatre’s production of The Four of Us is the first after the play’s New York City Off-Broadway debut, and represents Moses debut in the Boston area.  The production opens April 20th at 7PM, with previews April 17-20th 2PM, and closes May 11. Fresh from a role in the Broadway production of Aaron Sorkin’s latest play, The Farnsworth Invention, Kyle Fabel (director of Trying last season at MRT) will direct actors Bhavesh Patel and Jed Orlemann.

The Four of Us is a twisted tale of friendship threatened by success that throws logic for a loop. David and Benjamin are long-time friends who share a passion for the written word. As playwright David staggers through multiple disappointments, Benjamin’s novel soars to tremendous success. Fame and jealousy tango in a comical death-match that challenges the survival of the young men’s friendship.

Moses’ storytelling style is riddled with humor as audiences are shown David and Benjamin “then and now.” Their memories consist of raucous and ridiculous times they’ve shared as well as distinct moments of poignancy in their friendship. Many surprises throughout the play will keep audiences laughing and engaged in this hip modern work.  The Four of Us was named “Outstanding New Play” at the 2008 San Diego Critics Circle Awards.
